This is why you have to travel when you are young. Â A bus of elderly arrived on site as our group was heading up King Pacal’s Pyramid. Â They stayed near the bus, heard a half hour lecture and then some of them walked over to some of the ground level ruins. Most stood by the bus and took pictures.
Pacal was the Mayan king that everyone was hyped up over just before the world ended in 2012. Â Wait, it didn’t end. Â That’s because Pacal was not predicting the end of the world. He was identifying where his coronation fit with in the current Mayan Calendar macro segment known as a Baktun.
In my lifetime the world has been predicted to end about seven times so far. Â All didn’t happen.
At this rate I don’t think I am going to live long enough to die a cataclysmic death. Â Suits me. Â I like it here.
